Welcoming the Dragon Year

To everyone who is celebrating the Lunar New Year, a very warm Happy New Year to all of you! Wishing everyone good health, fortune and luck for the dragon year!

This year, after all the past years spent abroad, i was finally able to spend CNY here wif all my families. So everyone, i really had a warm new year :) It feels so good spending CNY wif my loved ones, stuffing myself with cakes and cookies, eating tangerines every hour, seeing cousins n relatives whom I havent seen for a long time, and also getting lots of red packets $.$

But, everytime at a family gathering, the same conversation would happen. People would ask me whether i have a boyfriend. To those who are attached, they will ask when will they get married. To those married, they will ask when will they give birth. I guss this happens to all Chinese families...oh well...we get the same question every year!

So for this dragon year, i heard some fortune teller says that Snakes are going to be lucky and will have a smooth sail. I cross my fingers on that. I guess i really need a lot of luck this year, both in my career and also in my personal relationship. I hope next year i will have an answer to one of those questions :D

The long weekend pasts so fast that it is time to go to work again tomorrow :( I should also stop making CNY an excuse for stuffing myself. But all the chinese believe that fat/plump = luck right? Lol...

I love my Prada Infusions!

I love Prada's line of Infusion eau de parfum! It started from my discovery of Prada Infusion de Iris, which I fell in love immediately. I wore it everyday, to school, lunch, etc. It is a fragrance that is suitable for both summer and winter. It is so clean and fresh, and it doesnt smell too overwhelming or overly sweetish feminine. So imagine my delight when I discovered that there are additions to the Infusions line, limited edition ones! Gasp!

I first saw Infusion de Fleur D' Orangier at a Prada boutique in Hong Kong. After trying it and leaving it on my skin for a few hours, I came back again the next day to purchase it. Turns out that it is all sold out in the whole country, and those are just samples displayed in the store!!! T.T I was soo sad that I tried to search every single store in Hong Kong and Singapore to no avail, as it is limited edition and sells out fast. Then I discovered Infusion De Tuberose in China, but decided not to purchase it cause I wasn't so into it at that time, it has this Mediterranean feel to it, like a spa, but I regret it after wards, as usual. It leaves behind a scent so soft, just like bathing in flower water. The citrus in it also adds some sparkling freshness to the flowery note. It turns out that other than China, nowhere else still has it anymore :(

So imagine my delight when I saw both of these fragrances in Indonesia! Gosh now I am so in love with Indonesia, I think it is because there isn't a huge market for luxury products here, and that everyone who can afford luxury products had gone shopping overseas, that every limited edition items that has been sold out everywhere is still full in stock here! I tried both, but couldn't decide on just one. Orange has this strong Jasmine note on the first spray, and after a while it leaves behind a very soft and feminine soapy powdery scent. At first it smells like Juicy Couture, but much more elegant. Tuberose smells more flowery, with a citrus base to it, but it disappears faster than Orange. Ironically, both of them contains similar ingredients. Tuberose has Blood Orange in it, while Orange has Tuberose in it! LOL! It just differs on the proportions (couldn't find the right word), and which note is stronger. So anyway....I got both!!! I still use my Iris which is running out fast for normal daily activities, Tuberose when I feel more feminine, Orange for a more formal occasion as I feel that it is stronger than the other two. Right now all I want is Infusion de Rose, which I haven't tried and haven't seen anywhere. I have faith that I will love it though. Once I have that, then my Infusions collection will be complete! But I doubt that I'll ever find it....:(

2012 starts off well...

Today, i crossed a list off my 2012 New Year's Revolution, and that is...I GOT A JOB!!!

Wheee! My New Year's Revolution was kinda private though, so it was posted in a different blog than this, my diary blog, but now i think i will get used to writing diary posts here too...i hope :)

So I applied for 2 jobs...A and B...B contacted me first for an interview on wednesday, while A called afterwards for an interview on Monday...technically B called first but A scheduled the apptmt earlier than B. Initially i was more interested in the merchandising job for B, but after i went to A's interview on Monday, i just fell in love with the job description. Needless to say, while i was at B, i was disappointed by their job description and wasnt so excited bout it anymore. So then, A wanted to meet again on friday, telling me i got hired bla4. The salary was lower han expected but heell...i wasnt seeking the salary, i was seeking the job experience. So then they wanted me to make a decision straight away...and to come for work straight away on Monday. Oh gosh, that's so intense! I am not someone who can make decisions so easily. Usually i let others figure out the decision for me, and most of the times i just leave it to fate. Most of the time i do get lucky just by depending on fate alone. (except that fate hasnt helped me at all in my love life :( ) So i got home...talked with my family, and then called them up once i wake up the next day, and 5 min after that phone call my phone rang! B called to tell me that i got the job and they wanted me to come to discuss salaries etc. =.="

So i come to realize that some things are just meant to be. Fate really do happens in life. Perhaps if B had asked me first and i worry bout not having a job, i would have just accepted their offer before A called me. If i had woken up 5 min later, i might not be sitting here in my job desk right now. I know it is too early to say this but, first day at work, though i didnt really do anything, i find myself falling in love with the environment n everyone here. It was everything i could have dreamed of, the perfect first job for me. I was so afraid of the formal work environment but this wasnt anything like that. Everyone just enjoyed working here, it was so obvious i can see all their passion and love coming to work.

I hope that after i get my formal desk n tasks i could still say i love the job...right now i am so bored with having nothing to do and not knowing anyone right here. So lets pray for the best. 2012 hwaiting!!! So far the year has come to a good start...i hope the most important thing in my revolution list can come true though...hihi...they say this dragon year is a lucky year for snakes like me...so i am hoping for the best :)

[Random] I AM A PROUD VIP!!!

This post is totalllllyy random, but since I am on this blog and just finished my not-so-random previous post, I decided to share with you all a very awesome news!!!!

BIG BANG WON MTV EMA BEST WORLD ACT!!!!

In the above video, you could see all 5 members looking so happy!!! After Daesung's depressing car accident involving the death of a motorcyclist and GD's marijuana scandal (leaving the other 3 members alone on stage), they are all finally present to attend MTV EMA in Belfast!!! And it is a VERY BIG DEAL, because:

1. It is an international award attended by Lady Gaga, Queen, Bruno Mars etc and almost everybody in the Hollywood music scene.
2. In the first round, they are nominated to represent the Asia Pacific region, alongside Agnes Monica from Indonesia, Jay Chou from Taiwan, and other Asia's representatives. (pardon my lack of knowledge in entertainment world. I am so behind news that I only know of the latest Edison scandal and Jay Chou's marriage rumor today! yes, I am very behind =.=) So they won the Asia pacific region, proving that Asia wants Big Bang to represent them!
3. Then, this is the biggest part, they are nominated together with Britney Spears who represent North America, and Lena from Europe, and other huge stars representing their own region! (again my lack of knowledge =.=)
4. THEY WON!!!!!!

Obviously, everyone seated in the EMA would have predicted that Britney would win. So when Big Bang was announced the winner, everyone should be shocked. They should be wondering who the hell are these Asian people?? Britney should be wondering that, how can she lose to a group that "no-one" has heard of. OH! I forgot the mention the fact that they broke record and received 58 million votes out of the total 158 million votes for the WHOLE EMA!

Call me a proud Asian (though not Korean, but still Asia Pacific won against other region!!!), a proud VIP, a proud k-pop fan (though my knowledge is only limited within YG family), I am sooo sooo soo proud of ma boys!!! Hoooraayyy!!!! Hopefully with their win, the South Korean citizens would 'forget' the scandals of 2011 and show more respect to them!

(Review+Swatch) Best oil-free tinted moisturizer/BB cream!

It's been so long that I even forgot I have a blog. Been so busy with moving, traveling, packing, etc that I barely have time to think of anything else. So, after moving back to my country and meeting people that I haven't met for a long time, people were telling me that my skin looked different, and asked me what had I done to it. They mentioned that it looked more clear, radiant and bright. Clearly, I did experience some breakouts and skin problems moving from a dry and cold place like LA to a very humid and hot Asia. My skin apparently couldn't adapt to the weather change and I went to a dermatologist to get it treated. But besides the fact that some medical ointments helped to clear my skin, there's another secret to smooth, clear and bright skin that I'm going to share here.

Let me begin by clarifying that when I mean the "best", it may not be the best for everyone, especially when it comes to skincare and makeup. So I am only sharing my opinion of what is best for me and hopefully it might be useful to others too. My skin type is classified as "combination normal to oily" (by Clinique definitions). So when I buy makeup products such as tinted moisturizer, foundation etc, I had to buy those that are oil free, if not I would look so shiny and oily within a few hours. In the past, I've tried almost all BB creams and tinted moisturizer (been meaning to post my whole collection, but never had the time to), such as Laura Mercier oil-free tinted moisturizer, a whole range of skin 79 BB creams, Missha BB creams, Etude house and more! But most of the time, either the color doesn't match or the products turn out too oily for me and cause me to breakout. (I really hate those Asian BB creams that only comes in 1 color, a pale greyish pink that makes me look like a Geisha) Like the case of Laura Mercier, though it claims to be oil-free, it still causes lots of shine within a few hours and the color is too unnatural for me. So here it is, my favorite Tinted Moisturizer so far:

It is Stila's Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer in Light. According to Sephora, it is a

"water-resistant moisturizer is packed with sun protection and just enough color to even skintone. The light, hydrating formula is ideal for all skin types and comes in natural, see-through shades. Application is a cinch and the coverage is long lasting, leaving you with a perfect finish every time."

Like the name indicates, it is very light and sheer, but the color is buildable, it's coverage is very light, much much lighter than the normal foundations and other BB creams. I find that the coverage is just perfect,it doesn't make your skin look cakey at all. It looks very natural and people will even think that you are not wearing any make up at all. It also does the perfect job of covering all redness, acne spots, scars etc. The best part, it is oil-free and has SPF, and it does not make my face look oily at all, throughout the whole day! Oh, I forgot another important thing, it gives your skin a very natural glow! (Don't everybody just love that?) There is barely any smell for the product, but with its SPF content, there is a slight sunblock smell in it.

I usually apply this product after cleansing my face and applying toner. After moving back to Asia, my derma told me to skip the moisturizer part as my skin is oily enough. So because this is a tinted moisturizer, it does the job of moisturizing my skin as well.

Here's some swatches for the product:
You can see that it is quite watery. The texture is very light and easy to work with.

That's how sheer and light it is.

Can you tell which part of my hand I applied the cream to? (hint at the previous picture ^^ ) That's just how natural it is.

So that's it, I've shared my secret :) Overall, I think people with minor skin problems, oily skin, and those who just want a natural light coverage, would definitely love the product. However, if you have dry skin, or you have a lot of redness in your skin or severe acne product, this coverage might be too light for you. If you want a better coverage, this product doesn't do well for you.

Recently, due to the good reviews I have read, and also out of my curiosity for make up products (=.=), I've bought the Bobbi Brown BB cream, which doesn't state that it is oil free, but claims that it has some minerals in it that help to control oil. I also like the fact that they have a 3 color range, so I could avoid the too greyish Geisha look. (Btw, Stila has 10 color choices) The first time I used it, it has a really strong SPF smell that I didn't like, so I'll wait till I've finished my tube of Stila's then I'll try the Bobbi Brown and perhaps write a review for it :)

Till then,

JS

P.S: I envy people who have winter right now. Even my skin is missing the cold and dry weather :(

Wanna be Sweet?

So what I've noticed about this year's summer season is the dominance of Orange colored items on the clothes rack in almost every stores! Bright orange, yellow, pink, red, purple, green, etc and most importantly, the use of these colors in color-blocking! Multi-colors items are everywhere, from French luxury brands YSL,Prada, etc all the way to our everyday clothing brands like Zara and Mango. So this season, grab a bright colored dress, a nude pumps or wedges, and a multi-colored bag to enjoy the season of the sun! Don't worry about looking like an orange, lemon or a grape, the trick here is to the perfect mix and match without overdoing the color combination. Don't forget to pair it up with a soft pink or peach blush and nude lips for the perfect summer look!

Here's a look inspired by Sandara Park's Etude House Miss Tangerine Cf!

I'm so in love with the YSL orange multicolor muse two bag but it's been sold out almost everywhere!! The Mulberry Alexa has also been on my mind recently but the YSL multicolor bag still appeals to me the most.
